COVID-19, whichhad been a leading cause of death in prior years, dropped to the 10th spot, with deaths falling over 70% and accounting for 1.6% of fatalities. Chronic liver disease, kidney disease, and diabetes showed decreases in death rates and contributed less than 10% of overall fatalities. Alzheimer’s disease and chronic lower respiratory diseases also saw slight declines, accounting for 3.7% and 4.7% of deaths, respectively. Accidents, including overdoses, falls, and car crashes, remained the third leading cause of death, representing 7.2% of fatalities. Cancer was the only cause in the top 10 to experience an increase in deaths, with nearly 5,000 more than in 2022, making it the second leading cause and responsible for 19.8% of deaths. Heart disease continued as the top cause, causing 22% of deaths, despite a significant reduction of approximately 21,900 cases. Special Guest – Michael Boldin

The Establishment’s “Principles” Are Fake The article critiques the political establishment’s hypocrisy regarding its proclaimed commitment to democratic principles. Leading up to the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Democrats and establishment Republicans pushed a narrative portraying Donald Trump as a threat to democracy. Despite this, Trump won, indicating public rejection of their framing. In the aftermath, the Biden administration has been accused of undermining the democratic process by obstructing Trump’s policy agenda. Actions include selling border wall materials to prevent their use, escalating the Ukraine war, issuing controversial pardons, and adopting policies complicating federal workforce reforms. These efforts are described as undemocratic, given they contradict voters’ decisions. The article further highlights the political class’s selective adherence to democratic and human rights principles, applying them only when convenient for their agenda. This behavior, it argues, exposes a manipulative use of public values to maintain power. The piece calls for awareness of these tactics and skepticism toward the political establishment’s purported principles, emphasizing the need to question their true motivations and actions.

Forgotten Anti-Federalist Warnings: The Pennsylvania Dissent The Pennsylvania Dissent, authored by a group of delegates at the 1787 Pennsylvania ratifying convention, stands as a pivotal critique of theproposed Constitution. These Anti-Federalists voiced deep concerns over the centralization of power, foreseeing risks of corruption, loss of state sovereignty, and erosion of individual liberties. They criticized the Constitution’s failure to include a bill of rights, fearing that such omissions would leave citizens vulnerable to federal overreach. The dissent highlighted how unchecked Congressional authority and an overly powerful executive could lead to tyranny, mirroring monarchical systems they sought to escape. Furthermore, the delegates condemned the Federalists for using coercive tactics during the ratification process, rushing decisions, and stifling opposition to ensure their agenda prevailed. Their warnings resonate today as debates over federal encroachment, diminished local control, and individual freedoms continue. The Pennsylvania Dissent serves as a reminder of the need for vigilance in protecting decentralization and limited government principles. By revisiting these critiques, modern readers can better understand the importance of addressing structural issues in governance and ensuring that liberty remains a central pillar of political systems.

These Are the Times That Try Men’s Souls: Words That Saved the Revolution Thomas Paine’s The American Crisis, first published on December 19, 1776, is widely regarded as one of the most influential writings of the American Revolution. Opening with the iconic line, “These are the times that try men’s souls,” Paine’s essay was both a rallying cry and a moral booster for the Continental Army and the broader revolutionary cause. Written during a time of despair, it urged perseverance and unity, emphasizing that the pursuit of liberty often demands immense sacrifice. Paine framed the Revolution as a moral battle between the forces of freedom and tyranny, calling for unwavering resolve against British oppression. The essay had a profound impact on morale, particularly as George Washington prepared for the pivotal crossing of the Delaware River and subsequent victories. Paine’s rhetoric transformed fear into determination, showing how words can inspire collective action and change the course of history. Beyond its historical context, The American Crisis continues to serve as a timeless reminder of the power of courage, resilience, and principle in the face of adversity. Paine’s ability to turn despair into hope demonstrates the enduring significance of effective communication in mobilizing people toward justice and freedom.

2nd Amendment: Founders’ Blueprint to Defeat Gun Control The article emphasizes the importance of the natural right to self-defense as articulated by the Founders, who viewed it as a cornerstone of libertyand enshrined it in the Second Amendment. The Founders believed that preserving this right required active engagement by the people to resist federal overreach and defend constitutional principles. Drawing on historical sources, such as writings from St. George Tucker, James Madison, and Samuel Adams, the article highlights the original intent behind the Second Amendment: empowering individuals and states to resist tyranny and maintain sovereignty. It also critiques modern federal gun control measures, asserting that they conflict with the principles of decentralization and personal liberty. The Founders’ solution, according to the piece, lies in a strategy of resistance and nullification, where states and individuals refuse to comply with unconstitutional federal actions. By adopting these principles, citizens can safeguard the Second Amendment and ensure that the right to keep and bear arms is preserved for future generations. The article serves as a call to action, urging people to embrace the Founders’ vision of an active and vigilant populace committed to defending their liberties, even in the face of governmental resistance.
