Thursday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:

Sacred Fire of Liberty!

It’s that time of the week where we get to explore the political healing that this country needs so desperately! Jonathan Emord is back to help us dissect the latest political news that’s fit to print:

The Precious Gift of Liberty The American Revolution was indeed the first true rights revolution in world history, elevating the defense of individual liberty over the authority and power of government. The federal government of the United States is likewise unique in world history. It is created by a written Constitution, a novelty of vital legal import, which mandates a government of expressly delegated and limited powers, the overarching purpose of that delegation, and those limits to be the protection of individual rights from the government itself. Indeed, the Constitution of the United States was intended to so cabin federal government power as to make it, in the words of Alexander Hamilton and the view of the Federalists, “in every rational sense, and to every useful purpose, A BILL OF RIGHTS.” The Constitution creates a federal republic redundantly protective of individual liberty through the addition of a Bill of Rights. At no other time in the history of the world have those with power chosen to reject their own power universally in favor of maximum protection for individual rights. The Founding Fathers abnegated all power which deprived individuals of freedom of choice and states of jurisdiction over all matters outside of those expressly delegated to the federal government. They circumscribed federal government power severely.

House Censures Adam Schiff for Spreading ‘False Accusations’ of Trump-Russia Collusion The House voted on party lines Wednesday to censure Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) as a formal condemnation for Schiff’s outspoken promotion of allegations that former President Donald Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia in the 2016 election. The vote passed 213 to 209. Six voted present, including five Republicans on the House Ethics Committee, who are now required to probe Schiff as part of the resolution, and Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO). Democrats, who unanimously opposed the vote, could be seen rallying around Schiff at the conclusion of it, chanting “Shame! Shame!” and “Disgrace!” at House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as the speaker stood up to read the resolution. “I have all night,” McCarthy said in response to the disruptions. Censures are rare and serve as the highest form of punishment in Congress outside of an expulsion. Only two other members have been censured in the last nearly four decades, including, most recently, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) for sharing a cartoon of himself killing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). The resolution against Schiff stated that while he was serving as the top Democrat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, he “spread false accusations that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.”

Conservatives Slam DOJ’s ‘Sweetheart Plea Deal’ for Hunter Biden: ‘Two-Tiered Justice System’ Conservatives blasted the “sweetheart plea deal” federal prosecutors have given to Hunter Biden, where he will plead guilty to two counts of “willful failure to pay federal income tax” and enter a “pretrial diversion program” for a firearm offense. The deal indicates that Hunter Biden will not face prison time, as Breitbart News Senior Editor Joel Pollak noted. Former President Donald Trump likened the punishment to a “traffic ticket” in a Truth Social post this morning. “Wow! The corrupt Biden DOJ just cleared up hundreds of years of criminal liability by giving Hunter Biden a mere ‘traffic ticket.’ Our system is BROKEN!” he wrote in a Truth Social post. The deal comes exactly a week after Trump was arraigned on 37 counts relating to classified documents he allegedly took to Mar-a-Lago at the end of his presidency. If convicted on all counts and a judge imposes the maximum sentence for each count consecutively, he could face 400 years in prison, Pollak reported. The 45th president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., also weighed in, tweeting that the deal “reeks of favoritism and brazenly reveals a system where there are two-tiers of Justice.”

Soros cash fuels big wins for progressive prosecutors in Virginia primaries Three progressives prosecutors in Virginia won their primary contests Tuesday night thanks to ongoing financial support from billionaire George Soros. Arlington-Falls Church Commonwealth Attorney Parisa Dehghani-Tafti won a decisive victory against primary challenger Josh Katcher after running a reelection campaign focused on “restorative justice” principles, such as ending cash bail and drug criminalization. Fox News Digital reported this month that as of June 8, two Soros-backed committees invested a total of more than $350,000 in two Virginia prosecutors, who he helped get elected four years ago, who were at risk of losing their seats to Democrat challengers in the June 20 primary. Dehghani-Tafti received a combined $326,000 toward her reelection. Fairfax County Attorney Steve Descano, a progressive backed by $26,500 in Soros money this cycle, was also victorious Tuesday night after beating primary challenger Ed Nuttall by more than 10 points. Descano, a far-left figure who vowed to defy any abortion restrictions passed through the legislative process in his state, has faced criticism for his perceived soft-on-crime policies, including dropping charges against a career criminal who nearly killed a mother and her three children in a road-rage incident.

National debt hits record-high $32 trillion two weeks after suspension of debt ceiling The United States’ gross national debt hit a record-breaking $32 trillion on Friday, June 16, less than two weeks after President Joe Biden signed into law the suspension of debt ceiling. According to the nation’s treasury data, the national debt is currently at $32.03 trillion. The Congressional Budget Office estimates the country’s deficit for the fiscal year 2023 to be near $1.4 trillion, driving the national debt even higher. The debt ceiling deal, which also included tens of billions in spending cuts demanded by Republicans in the House of Representatives, will allow the government to borrow whatever it wants until the end of 2024 when the debt ceiling suspension ends. When the bill was signed into law earlier this month, the national debt was just around $31.47 trillion. On the first business day after the debt ceiling was suspended, federal borrowing surged by nearly $400 billion. According to Fox News, the national debt will just keep on growing as long as the federal government keeps spending more than it collects. “In the first eight months of the current fiscal year, the government has already spent $1.2 trillion more than it collected,” wrote Peter Kasperowicz for Fox Business. “Annual budget deficits of $1 trillion or more are expected in the foreseeable future under current law.” Meanwhile, President of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget Maya MacGuineas said the “only thing more disheartening” than skyrocketing national debt is the “fact, we reached $31 trillion last October.”

New York to Appeal After Judge Strikes Down ‘Unconstitutional’ Quarantine Law A lawsuit prevented the governor of New York and the state’s health department from being able to lock down or lock up in quarantine anyone they suspect of having a contagious disease — but New York’s executive government wants those powers back. A group of New York lawmakers along with the advocacy group Uniting NYS in April 2022 sued New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and the New York State Department of Health over a regulation that gave Hochul’s administration the power to mandate isolation and/or quarantine for anyone of any age whom they believed was exposed to communicable diseases. A judge struck down the regulation in July 2022, stating that it was unconstitutional and lacking in due process, according to Bobbie Anne Cox, a New York attorney who represented the lawmakers. However, the governor and her administration in March appealed the judge’s decision, Cox told political commentator Kim Iversen on a recent episode of “The Kim Iversen Show.” Oral arguments before an appellate five-judge panel will take place on Sept. 13, Cox told The Defender. “I do want to point out to your viewers,” Cox said, “what this regulation said. It was unbelievable.” Under the regulation, she said, New York public health authorities “could have removed you from your home with the force of police and put you into a detention facility of their choosing.”

Macon Bacon, collegiate summer league baseball team, faces call to change name over ‘glorification of bacon’ A physicians group in Georgia put up a billboard targeting the fans of the Macon Bacon, a collegiate summer league baseball team, and wrote a letter to the team’s president. The Physicians Committee of Responsible Medicine’s billboard is located on Interstate 16 and asks fans to “keep bacon off your plate.” The group also sent a letter to team president Brandon Raphael accusing the organization of glorifying the meat. “Macon Bacon’s glorification of bacon, a processed meat that raises the risk of colorectal cancer and other diseases, sends the wrong message to fans,” the letter from nutrition education program manager Anna Herby, DHSc, RD, CDCES, to Raphael read. “I urge you to update the team’s name to Macon Facon Bacon and promote plant-based bacon alternatives, such as Facon Bacon or Mushroom Bacon, that will help your fans stay healthy. As for Kevin, Macon Bacon’s mascot, he can reveal that he is actually plant-based bacon.”

Uproar Over ‘Apeel’ Food Coating Sheds Light on Big Ag’s Capture of Organic Food Agencies Agribusiness watchdog OrganicEye this week petitioned the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to establish formal regulatory oversight for the public and private organizations that determine what products can be labeled organic. The request comes after a recent social media controversy surrounding a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded synthetic fungicide and fruit coating — Apeel — sparked public debate about potentially dangerous synthetic products and herbicides that make it into the food system under the “organic” label. “The conflicts of interest in this process are mind-boggling,” said Mark Kastel, executive director of Wisconsin-based OrganicEye. “It’s time for the USDA to change direction to comply with the intent of Congress and save the value of the organic label for ethical farmers and their loyal customers. ”Since Congress created the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) in the 1990s to recommend industry standards for regulating organic food production and processing under the National Organic Program, the board increasingly has become dominated by members of the Organic Trade Association (OTA), the most powerful industry lobbying group, Kastel told The Defender. Once the industry-dominated NOSB recommends guidelines for approving products for use in the organic production process, a different organization — an industry-led and funded nonprofit, the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) — is responsible for reviewing newly branded and formulated food ingredients and agricultural inputs containing those products.

US approves nation’s first ‘lab-grown’ meat — chicken made from animal cells For the first time, US regulators on Wednesday approved the sale of chicken made from animal cells, allowing two California companies to offer “lab-grown” meat to the nation’s restaurant tables and eventually, supermarket shelves. The Agriculture Department gave the green light to Upside Foods and Good Meat, firms that had been racing to be the first in the US to sell meat that doesn’t come from slaughtered animals — what’s now being referred to as “cell-cultivated” or “cultured” meat as it emerges from the laboratory and arrives on dinner plates. The move launches a new era of meat production aimed at eliminating harm to animals and drastically reducing the environmental impacts of grazing, growing feed for animals and animal waste. “Instead of all of that land and all of that water that’s used to feed all of these animals that are slaughtered, we can do it in a different way,” said Josh Tetrick, co-founder and chief executive of Eat Just, which operates Good Meat.

Screen for Depression, Anxiety in Most Adults, USPSTF Says Most adults should be screened for depression and anxiety, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) said in two final recommendation statements. In one recommendation statementopens in a new tab or window published in JAMA, the Task Force said that all adults — including those who are pregnant, postpartum, and 65 and older — should be screened for major depressive disorder (grade B recommendation). Of note, the Task Force did not recommend screening for suicide risk in these groups due to insufficient evidence in assessing the balance of harms and benefits (grade I). In a separate recommendation statementopens in a new tab or window, the USPSTF also gave a grade B recommendation to screening adults up to age 64 for anxiety, including those who are pregnant or postpartum. It did not recommend screening adults 65 and older for anxiety, due to insufficient evidence on the balance of its harms and benefits (grade I). The USPSTF noted that the final recommendations are consistent with its recommendations on suicide risk from 2014opens in a new tab or window, and its 2016 recommendationsopens in a new tab or window on screening for major depressive disorder.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Tests the Appetite of Democrats for Science, Logic & Reason In the marketplace of credibility, fewer people have more going for him than Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Those of us who have worked with Bobby and know precisely the full extent of the length the man goes to vet information before he takes a position can attest: His case for science on vaccine safety is bulletproof. It was Bobby, after all, who realized that the Burbacher study showed that the mercury in the brains of monkeys stayed in the brain so long the authors could not estimate when it would clear, in contrast to the mercury from methylmercury. Democrats have long held that they are the party of the people and that the GOP is untrustworthy due to their ties with big corporations. Enter 2017… Pharma approaches the Democrats with a blank check – the easiest campaign money the party has ever seen. Their goal? To rob American citizens of their rights to personal, religious, philosophical, and medical exemptions to State-level vaccine mandates. Many were called to serve as witnesses to make statements in support of keeping exemptions. The late great Dr. Toni Bark, RIP. Dr. Alvin Moss. Dr. Brian Hooker. Dr. Bob Sears. Del Bigtree. Myself. So many others. At our own expense, we would travel from state to state – Washington, California, Connecticut, Ohio, New York, Maine, and New Jersey – bringing forward the harsh realities of the state of vaccine science. I was featured in the Netflix film, “Pandemic” – in Jan 2020 – on the cusp of the COVID-19 debacle.

Fans Rage at Lady Gaga over Pfizer Migraine Drug Partnership: ‘You Are an Embarrassing Sellout’ Fans have been raging at pop singer Lady Gaga after she partnered with Pfizer’s Nurtec ODT migraine treatment, charging she sold out to Big Pharma. In an Instagram post, Gaga shared a photo of herself performing onstage with a superimposed graphic of the Nurtec ODT label in the upper right corner. “Ever since childhood, I’ve dealt with migraine pain. When I tried Nurtec® ODT (rimegepant) 75 mg for the first time, I’ll never forget wishing I had found it sooner. That’s why I’m proud to partner with Nurtec ODT. We’re in this together. If you’re ready to speak to a doctor, ask about Nurtec ODT today. #MHAM,” she said in the caption. Gaga, who has become the face of the brand after Khloé Kardashian, revealed she had been diagnosed with migraines at age 14. “My experience with migraines was debilitating. I would be in bed for days with tremendous pain in my head, behind my eyes, and all throughout my face,” she told Pfizer. “I couldn’t read or have any lights on, and I needed to be alone in a quiet room for hours that could lead to days until the pain subsided.” A video ad also features Lady Gaga narrating a  Nurtec ODT commercial as she performs during her 2022 “Chromatica Ball” world tour.
