Friday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:

.A fixation on ‘clean eating’ can be harmful—perfectionists may be at greater risk of taking it too far Clean eating, which emphasizes consuming whole and minimally processed foods, can lead to adversehealth effects if taken to extremes. Instagram influencer Alice Liveing shared how her obsession with clean eating and rigorous exercise routines negatively impacted her health, causing poor sleep, low mood, energy levels, cognitive function, and menstrual irregularities. This fixation can evolve into orthorexia, an unhealthy obsession with healthy eating. Although not officially recognized as an eating disorder, orthorexia involves compulsive diet practices, fear of ill health if deviating from the diet, and increasing dietary restrictions. Orthorexia can result in severe weight loss, malnutrition, and psychological issues such as anxiety and guilt. Perfectionism, characterized by an irrational need for perfection, significantly contributes to orthorexia. People with high perfectionistic strivings, a commitment to being perfect, are particularly vulnerable. A meta-analysis revealed that perfectionistic strivings are more strongly linked to orthorexia than perfectionistic concerns, which are more associated with anorexia and bulimia. The rise of social media as a source of lifestyle advice may increase orthorexia prevalence, necessitating further research to understand and prevent this condition and to support affected individuals.

Special Guest Brad Skistimas

Five Times August is the solo act of singer/songwriter Brad Skistimas. Skistimas has appeared on the FOX Business channel as an expert “Do-It-Yourself” indie artist and featured in Billboard Magazine, Performing Songwriter, Guitar Player, PeopleMagazine, and USA Today. He was the first completely unsigned act to have an album distributed in Walmart stores nationwide with 2007’s “The Independent.” The music has been featured on many popular TV shows, commercials, and films and tour dates have supported some of the nation’s top acts.

In early 2021 Five Times August began releasing a series of protest songs taking aim at Covid-era regulations, the Biden administration, Justin Trudeau, as well as Anthony Fauci with the hit song “Sad Little Man,” which reached #1 on several Amazon and Apple Music charts.

Several of the music videos for these tracks have been suppressed and censored on social media platforms like YouTube and Facebook. Despite being restricted by big tech, the videos have been viewed millions of times and press includes prominent features on Glenn Beck, Chad Prather, Del Bigtree’s The HighWire, The Federalist, The Post Millennial, RebelNews, and much more.

Skistimas performed his song “Silent War” on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC for 35,000 attendees at the Defeat the Mandates rally on January 23rd 2022, and more recently even had the honor of singing The National Anthem for Dr. Ben Carson and President Donald Trump.

In November 2022 Five Times August released the full length album “Silent War,” a compilation featuring all of the recent protest singles. The album reached as high as #5 on Amazon’s best selling albums, sitting between mainstream artists Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen. The album also reached #1 on Amazon and Apple Music’s singer/songwriter and alternative charts.

In 2023 Five Times August partnered with new record label Baste Records to release the single “Ain’t No Rock And Roll,” calling out all the mainstream musicians and bands that didn’t speak out against government tyranny in recent years.

Five Times August latest single “Liars, Cheats, and Crooks” is out now.

Nearly 1 in 10 pregnant people who get COVID will develop long COVID, study finds A new study published in Obstetrics & Gynecology found that nearly 1 in 10 pregnant individuals who contract COVID-19 will develop long COVID. The study, part of the NIH RECOVER project, assessed over 1,500 pregnant participants nationwide and identified that 9.3% reported long COVID symptoms, such as fatigue and gastrointestinal issues, six months after infection. This highlights the significant impact of long COVID on otherwise healthy and young populations. Factors like pre-existing anxiety, depression, obesity, and financial hardship were associated with a higher risk of developing long COVID. The findings stress the importance for obstetricians to recognize and address long COVID symptoms, distinguishing them from normal pregnancy-related issues, to provide appropriate care and support. The study’s insights call for targeted interventions to help pregnant individuals who are at risk of long COVID and to develop comprehensive healthcare strategies to manage the long-term impacts of the virus on maternal health.

Hour 2

Half of US Cancer Deaths Avoidable, ‘Alarming’ Study Says A study by the American Cancer Society revealed that 40% of cancer cases and half of all cancer deaths in the U.S. could be avoided throughchanges in modifiable risk factors. These factors include smoking, secondhand smoke, excess body weight, alcohol consumption, poor diet, physical inactivity, UV radiation, and certain infections like HPV. In 2019, 713,340 cancer cases and 262,120 cancer deaths were attributable to these factors. Cigarette smoking was the leading cause, followed by excess body weight, alcohol consumption, and UV radiation. The study highlights the urgent need for comprehensive tobacco control policies, increased screening, and equitable access to preventive healthcare to reduce cancer incidence and mortality. Researchers emphasize the importance of lifestyle changes and preventive measures in reducing cancer risks, urging public health initiatives to focus on educating the population about the impact of modifiable risk factors on cancer prevention. This approach could significantly lower the cancer burden and improve overall public health outcomes in the U.S.

Questions of The Day!

Please assist with alternative and natural medications to replace prescriptions after a heart attack and stent placement for husband.
Cheryl

Dear Mr. Bell,

My name is Helen from Sydney, Australia, and I have a 13-year-old son diagnosed with ASD (Level 1 – High Functioning) at age 3.5. Despite numerous developmental and behavioral therapies, I once believed autism was an unchangeable condition. However, in 2022, I learned about the potential link between autism and childhood vaccines, leading me to believe my son’s condition might be due to medical interventions. While we’ve followed mainstream therapies, I recently discovered various biomedical interventions that offer hope for his recovery, such as Dr. Andreas Kalcker’s chlorine dioxide protocol and Dr. Rashid Buttar’s treatments.

I am seeking your expert advice on the best treatment options and any practitioners in Sydney who can assist us. Over the last few years, I have watched many of Jonathan Otto’s docuseries and listened to various experts discuss promising treatments like Dr. Buttar’s intravenous EDTA and Dr. Judy Mikovits’ mention of Suramin. I am impressed by your knowledge in natural medicine and would greatly appreciate your guidance for my son’s healing journey.

God bless,
Helen
